Some things about English...

Here is what I have to say about this course of english and also some things about "my" english.

I can say that for me learning english in the university was not too hard but I sometimes had troubles pronouncing some words, and that's very important if you want to travel to anywhere in the world or even when someone of another country is here in Chile. And I think that I'm not the only one that has some troubles pronouncing words, so for example in the course of English I'd make oral tests instead of making videos like an amateur youtuber haha, although making the video is still a good thing to practice oral pronunciation.

Now about the blogs that we are making, I think they are good because we can practice grammar but the teacher should tell us what is wrong or good in order to improve our grammar.
Also as I said before I need to improve my pronunciation and I can only do that by practicing and watching videos, and I also have to expand my english vocabulary so I can read things and watch videos with no problem, for example in a scientific career like this I have to learn a lot about "scientific english" so I don't have problems reading chemistry related articles or watching videos.

Nowadays I use english when I'm searching something on the internet or playing a videogame (I usually have them in english to learn more or just because dubbing is better) so I think I use english a lot, actually I use it everyday :) .

What I'd change about...

Programme:
About the changes that I'd make to the programme of my career is to add a course about enviromental chemistry because nowadays is very important to know how to make less polluting substances or biodegradable substances. This could help a lot to avoid the climate change in the earth.

Workload and length of studies:
Now talking about the schedule that I have, I'd remove classes after 6 pm because some people have to travel a lot to get to their homes and then when they are at their homes usually they have to study and studiying at night it's not very good for anyone.

Faculty facilities:
About the facilities in this faculty I'd make the library bigger or with a second floor, and also I'd make a bigger cafeteria so we don't have to eat outside when it's winter. Also I'd like to have a gym and I think a lot of people wants to have one for the CFG or just to workout, usually when someone wants to go to the gym they have to go to the faculty of odontology or medicine.

Technology:
I think the technology in this faculty is very good in the laboratories but in the case of the CIQ I'd make it bigger because sometimes there are not enough PC's for everyone to use.

Teaching methods:
About the teaching methods, in terms of the classes there are very good but when there comes the time to do the tests, I'd like that the teachers send us the subject matters for the test a lot of time before it so we have more time to study and know what to study.

My opinion about things :O

What's your opinion about recycling?

My opinion about recycling is that this is a very good method to use something more times in a certain process like tetrapack. I think that recycling is also needed a lot because of the polution that is produced by the humans, if we don't recycle the earth is going to become a ball made of thrash.

What's your opinion about climate change?

My opinion about the climate change is this is very bad and reflects the poor interest of the people in keeping the earth "healthy". I also think that we need to start doing more things to avoid this climate change in the earth in a short time, because if we don't do this now, there will start to be more natural disasters.

What's your opinion about having an exotic pet at home?

For me having a exotic pet in your house is not a bad thing unless the "pet" is not having a good enviroment to live and also if the pet it's not dangerous. Like in the case of a snake, a lot of people has snakes as pets, I think this is OK if the snake is not too dangerous for the owner and also it has a lot of space to move, and also the food and water obviously.

What's your opinion about buying instead of adopting pets?

I think everyone have the free decision of buying or adopting pets, but in some cases it's better to adopt a pet so they won't die in the streets or stay forever in the dog pound. If I want to have a pet in the future I think I'll adopt it :D .

Mental Disorder: Dementia

Hi I'm going to talk you about a mental disorder which is called "Dementia". This mental disorder is actually a group of functions of the human brain that begin to have some funcionallity problems, like the capacity of reasoning and the capacity of holding memories. Also it affects the capacity of doing activities in your own and the intellect.

In most of the cases is the old people that suffers of Dementia and in the world there are 50 million people that are affected from it. To cure this mental disorder you have to attend to therapies like "Neuropysichological rehabilitation", also there are some medications that help curing this mental disorder like the "Cognitive enhancers" to help to improve your mental functionallity.

I think that this mental disorder affects a lot any person, the society around it and also their families, even their capacity to work in any kind of job. In an early stage of Dementia you could actually do a lot of things and you mental funcionallity will be almost the same as a normal person, but in the mid stage of this mental disorder you will be disabled of working at anything because in this stage you will start to have difficulty to comunicate, remember things and you will feel disoriented, so in my opinion this disables you from any job.

This problems also have an impact on the families of the person who is affected by Dementia. The families of this person will start having to waste money on the treatment, also they will be in a very stressful situation I think because they want their relative to start getting better and if it doesn't happen it will be very sad for them I think.

And finally I think the society around this person will be very affected to because is not good to see someone affected by Dementia and this person could harm them. Annually there are $818.000 million dollars spent on the treatment of people with Dementia in the world, so I think this is a very important disease to the society

Post Graduate Studies

Personally I don´t know yet what kind of postgraduate studies I want to have, it could be a Master or a PhD degree it depends on what subject they are about.

For the moment I think Organic Chemistry is a very interesting subject of Chemistry so I could do postgraduate studies on that subject, but I also think getting a PhD in Chemistry could help me get a better job in the future. Also I wanted to study Pharmacy so I think that a studiying for a PhD in Pharmacology would be very interesting.

If one day I have the oppotunity to do postgraduate studies, first I'd see where it's the best place to do it thinking of the prestige of the university. I'd like to go to europe or U.S.A. Asian countries would be nice but the language is difficult to learn I think.

Also in the other hand I'm not a person that likes to travel a lot and being away from my family so I most likely stay here in Chile doing postgraduate studies.

So if I start doing postgraduate studies I think I'd just dedicate my time to study because is a very important matter and also I'm paying for it so I wont waste my time. Possibly if I have enough time I'd get a part-time job but I think it's better to focus just in the importan matters.

My future job

The job I would like to have when I get graduated from the university is working indoors in a laboratory from a industry, I don´t actually know in what type of industry I want to work but I think I'll decide it in the future. This job I would like to have is mostly working in analytic chemistry in the laboratory.

Doing this job I think I won´t travel so much but I think is someone gives me the opportunity of working in a laboratory out of Chile or in another place out of Santiago I would do it only if I'm well paid. Talking about the salary, obviously I want to get well paid but I also want to work in what I like and that is chemistry, but I think that if I need the money and I can't get a job working on chemistry, I've to work in another thing (that's sad).

Currently I'm studiyng a degree in chemistry and I'd like to study to get a PhD but I don't know specifically in what matter of chemistry I want to get it. I think a PhD in this type of career is necessary for someone who wants to be very good at this, and that’s my case, I’d like to get the maximum knowledge possible in chemistry :D.

Music in my life

To me music is more like a tool to be entertained at any time or to not stay in silence, I prefer to have music in the background when I'm alone rather than being in silence all the time but when I'm talking with someone I obviously turn the music off.

I don't like just one type of music genre but the one that I like the most is Metal and it's derivations like, Death Metal, Nu Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal and many others. When I started to listen to Metal I remember I was 12 years old, I started to listen to it mostly because of my dad, my uncle and a game called Guitar Hero 3 (awesome game).

At the beggining I listened mostly Megadeth, Pantera and System Of A Down. For a lot of time Megadeth was my favorite band because of the complexity of their songs and the rhythm, then Pantera was my favorite band because of their "groovy" songs.

Then with the time I began to feel bored by these bands and started looking for new ones and my taste of music began to change so I find a band called Opeth (progressive death metal) and I liked it a lot so I started searching for more Death Metal bands and eventually I found one of the most recognized band of Death Metal, "Death" in my opinion this band doesn´t have bad songs, their are all amazing and the rest is good.

Also I found the band Gojira which is amazing because of the quality of sound they can get and also they have my favorite song which is "The haviest matter of the universe" not because of their letter just 'cause of the rhytm, also  Lamb Of God was my favorite band for a while because their songs have a rhytm that is so good that you can´t love them.

Nowadays I listen mostly Proggresive Metal from bands like Polyphia, Perypheri, Chon, Plini, Twelve Foot Ninja, Intervals and others of the same genre but that doesn´t mean I stopped listening the previous bands, I still like them :D .From the films that I´ve watched I liked the songs from "Whilpash" and the soundtrack of The Lord Of The Rings (I can´t remember more :P ).

Because of these type of music I like, I learned to play the bass so i could play my favorites songs with my friends or my uncle, actually, my uncle teach me how to play the bass and also I tried to learn by my self. Eventually I learned a song from Opeth and that´s the point where I stopped playing the bass because I needed more strings in the bass to learn harder songs so I felt limitated by this and got bored of it also because I don´t have the time to play with my friend anymore :( . Anyways I still like the bass, drums and the guitar but mostly when the rhytm that is played on them is difficult.

My favourite book and film

First I want to say that I don´t read a lot of books and the ones that I tried to read or had to read for school, I forget them. Anyways I don´t have a favourite book but I´ll say that the “Chemistry” book of Raymond Chang will be one of my favourite books just by the fact that I´ll learn a lot of chemistry from it and it will help me to get through the courses of chemistry during my university “life”. I think it´s a very good book because it explains the  subjects of Chemistry in a form that anyone can learn.

Now my favourite film is “The Lord of the Rings” from J.R.R Tolkien, because of this my favourite book should be The lord of the rings but I haven´t read the books :P.

I really like this film and the entire saga  of the lord of the rings, including the “Hobbit” saga. What I like the most of this sagas is the stories behind them, there is the main story which is the course that follows the “ring” and Frodo, and at the same time there are the stories of Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf and many other characters that they all together try to defeat the forces of Sauron (main evil guy) so Frodo can destroy the ring. Also It´s a very well made film with a lof of special effects and a good acting, I think that it can be appreciated because The lord of the rings won 11 Oscars in total. I plenty recommend this film if you are a fan of middle earth fiction or medieval things.

Best concert I´ve ever had

The best concert I’ve ever had was on the “Santiago Gets Louder” Festival 3 years ago on September. That day many bands played like System Of A Down, Deftones, Lamb Of God, Gojira, Faith No More and many more but in my opinion the best band on that day or the band that sounded better was Gojira. Gojira sounded amazing, I’ve been to many concerts but no other band sounded as good as Gojira sounded that day.

Gojira is a Death Metal band, they are from France and their integrants are Joe Duplantier (voice, guitar), Mario Duplantier (Drums), Christian Andreu (guitar) and Jean-Michel Labadie (bass). They have many albums but for me the best is From Mars to Sirius and my favorite song of that album is The haviest matter of the universe.
The atmosphere during the concert was amazing, all the people were rocking their songs as hard as they could and I was astonished by the amazing quality of the sound, I remember that the song Flying Whales was one of the best song they played that day it was really amazing.

Gojira - Flying Whales (Live At Brixton Academy, London) (I tried to post the video here but I couldn't find it :( )

That Festival of music was very especial for me also because I went with my father that played that day in the band Recrucide, I had the oportunity to go backstage and see some of the most famous bands members like System Of A Down, Lamb Of God (I took a picture with the drummer and the bassist), Gojira, Deftones and Faith No More.

A country I would like to travel :D

I’ve never been to South Korea, I would like to go there mostly because of the architecture of the temples and palaces and also because of their main sport which is the Taekwondo.

I don’t know a lot from South Korea I just have a general idea from their culture, cities, architecture but that´s because I would like to travel there, just with a mínimum idea of how the country is, it’s very interesting!
If one day I have the opportunity to travel there I would definitely visit some famous landscapes like the Changdeok Palace or the Seoraksan National Park, they seem to be very interesting.

Changdeok Palace                                                               Seoraksan National Park

On the other hand, I would try to go to a Taekwondo exhibition, I already practice that sport but, I think that is very important to know how the people from the country where it was created practice it. Also I would like to train there :D.

I hope one day I can travel there :D

Some things about English...

Here is what I have to say about this course of english and also some things about "my" english. I can say that for me learning...
